According to Dr. F, I should be getting a new shunt put in on Tuesday. However, I'll still be in Duke for a while afterwards getting more antibiotics.
The docs are really irritating Mom and me. Instead of treating the breakthrough pain I have, Dr. F is just all "you shouldn't be hurting." Well, I'm sorry, dude, that I shouldn't be hurting, but I am. So do your freaking job and treat it.
It's my mom's birthday today. We've done nothing but sleep. It's kind of depressing.
I agree. Your doctor is not treating this very professionally if all that he can say is "well, it shouldn't be hurting..." I went through that the entire year I battled cancer "Well, with all the treatments, the bleeding should have stopped..." Well, it didn't. Seriously didn't. When you step out of the shower only to find a new pool of blood on the floor, something's wrong -- regardless of what "shouldn't be happening".
ReplyDeleteYOU are the patient, and as such, THEY are working for you. If he's not listening to your pain issues, be respectfully assertive and ask to speak to the next person up the chain of command, until you find someone willing to treat you for the symptoms you ARE having. You're paying, you're the customer. He needs to do his job.
Praying.
Praying for you, Mallory. I know it's rough right now, but you've become such a stronger person through all of this and I'm very proud of you. Keep your chin up...you CAN do it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Mallory. You are in my thoughts daily and I pray for you nightly.
ReplyDeletePraying for you today, Mal. ((((((((( hugs ))))))
